Passionate about sports and social interaction, three young people from Woolwich Polytechnic School in Thamesmead spent a week, undertaking their work experience with Charlton Athletic Community Trust (CACT). Based between Valley Central Youth Hub and other locations in Royal Greenwich, here’s how they felt about their work experience.

Why did you want to get involved with this particular work experience?

Treasure: I heard good reviews on the CACT work experience and it would be a good way to explore coaching and improve my knowledge.

Ore: I wanted to get involved because I think it’s the best type of work experience due to my interests.

Enoch: I wanted to get involved because I’ve heard a lot of good things about it and I thought it would be a good experience for me that is sports related.

How was your experience at Charlton Athletic Community Trust (CACT)?

Treasure: It was very exciting meeting new people and helping encourage younger ones so they can go on to be good players.

Ore: Very Good! I really enjoyed it and found a very good experience.

Enoch: It was very benefiting and enlightening.

What was your favourite part of the experience?

Treasure: The practical side, seeing younger people engage and enjoy the type of football was very nice and I was happy to see that.

Ore: Probably the coaching part of it.

Enoch: Coaching young people, table tennis games and going to different sports centres.

What was it like working with the management and other staff?

Treasure: They were encouraging and open to answer questions, helping us with written work and were also very nice.

Ore: It was new to me and quite good as it progressed.

Enoch: It was good! I learnt a lot of things and met new amazing people.

How did you feel about your time at CACT?

Treasure: I enjoyed it and I am open to coming here in the future as it was very enjoyable and enlightening.

Ore: I felt like the time was honestly reasonable.

Enoch: I would like to stay here longer but sadly, it’s only for 1 week, but in 1 week I gained a lot.

Would you recommend other people to have their work experience with CACT?

Treasure: Definitely!

Ore: Yes, I would highly recommend it.

Enoch: Oh yes, definitely! I’d give it a 5/5.
